Equestrians have all these sayings and terms that non-equestrians don’t know or understand. The term ‘long spot’ is the one that confuses my non-horsey friends the most, especially when I say it’s what caused a fall. I found the perfect shirt to describe this habit of mine, made by Phyllis Stein, a Canadian company that produces shirts printed with equestrian sayings and images on them.
I have three of Phyllis Stein’s shirts – the Long Spot shown above, and Breeches and Boots shown below, as well as Stayed On! Won Prizes! (not shown), which I just got this weekend – thanks Meredith! Both are of a very soft cotton that is lightweight, but not see through, that withstands washing well. I have the older style of Breeches and Boots, and it is a bit shorter in the body and a crew neck – perfect for pairing with mid-rise breeches, whereas Long Spot is long enough for me to comfortably wear over leggings on a lazy day. Both shirts featured are paired with Equine Couture Baker Breeches, and an Old Navy belt (older style, similar style available now).
